What is a gerechtsdeskundige?
A gerechtsdeskundige is a court-appointed, independent expert who objectively investigates technical questions. The appointment follows a judicial order and is governed by articles 962 et seq. of the Belgian Judicial Code; judicial experts are listed in the national register maintained by the FOD Justitie (federal justice department).
